Here's a few highlights from the trip:
- We did some work on the Cunningham's house - some painting, installing a ceiling, and installing insulation.
- Jimmy preched at the Glina church (a sermon about Jericho). After church, the pastor's wife told Jimmy that she had a vision during the sermon that the message they were hearing would make a lasting impact on the church. Another lady came to Jimmy, Grati, Tony and the pastor and described a vision that she had during the sermon. As she described a big eye floating over Jimmy, Tony said that she described the CVM logo!!!
- Taylor and I worked with Jan, Pam, Jonathan, and Sarah to do the kids outreach. Taylor dressed up as the big purple gorilla and walked around the village to bring kids in. He also got to do some puppets, a skit and balloons. I helped the kids do a craft. They all had a great time. We had about 25 kids.
- After church, we went to McDonalds for lunch with the pastor and his family. He had been a couple of weeks ago with Jan. His wife and younger kids had never been before. In fact, they didn't even know how to eat a hamburger. The kids had a great time. Jan got the kids a shake for dessert. The youngest girl had never had a shake before. So, they had to show her how to drink it. After that, she did not let it go!!
- We also went to a small village near Crovu to paint benches. The church leader, Dimitrus, was overwhelmed by us being there. Dimitrus makes and sells mud bricks. He, his wife, kids and another relative (about 10 or 11 people) all live in a two room house. He sold his animals so he could use his barn for the church. The room is very small - about the size of Taylor's bedroom. While we were there, we give the pastor's kids some toys and clothes.
- We held a full day children's worker training in Crovu at Pastor Solomon's church. We had 24 people attend, including Dimitrus and Pastor Solomon. Everyone was totally engaged the entire training. They took notes, laughed, practiced -- had a great time. Even Pastor Solomon and Dimitrus played the beach ball games! Grati told us that he had never seen pastors participate in a training before. The workers were amazed by the kits. The kits included: 2 packages of construction paper, 8 boxes of crayons, 2 pairs of scissors, 5 glue sticks, a box of markers, a box of colored pencils, 24 pencils, 4 beach balls, balloons, tape, paper plates, paper bags, angel hair, pipe cleaners, paper doilies, flannel, white board, and white board markers. We also were able to set up a flannel graph library with the donated Betty Lukins sets. Pastor Solomon was just absolutely blown away by the flannel graphs. This training was for workers at the churches Pastor Solomon started. They average 300 kids every Sunday. This was the first training any of the workers had ever received. Just imagine the impact that this will have!
- We also helped Jan and Pam put together a party for the missionary kids school. Jonathan and Sarah and about 18 other high schoolers had an all-night party with lots of food, games, and movies.
- Jimmy and Taylor did a second kids outreach with Jan, Pam and the gang at Pastor Solomon's church. They had about 80 kids.
This was a great trip. We faced tremendous battles for the six months before we left for Romania. We know without a doubt that we were supposed to be there and that God will continue to do great things for a long time.
Thank you again to everyone who donated supplies, gifts for the missionaries, and funds. We could not have done this trip without your support. You have made a huge impact!!
